I posted at the first of the year that I was challenged to go on 48 first dates in 2016. You can read all about it, here. There is also a link at the bottom to the post for date number one.
About a week and a half ago I met Mr. Would you like my jacket? We matched on tinder before Christmas, but with travel and the holidays our schedules didn’t align until the New Year. He asked if I wanted to go out for drinks, dinner, or both. I typically have a drinks only policy for first dates. Dinner is a big commitment if the date is awkward. I saw this post on Instagram the other day. It’s a conversation from Bumble and perfectly sums up my thoughts on first date dinners.
We met for drinks in Durham and hopped around to a couple of different places. There wasn’t any kind of real plan, which was fine with me. I’m not too familiar with downtown Durham, but he knows the area really well due to his job. The conversation was good; it just seemed to flow! We discovered that we have a lot in common, including interests in travel and DYI projects. I had a lot of fun as well.
We ended up going to a couple of different places that night including a roof top bar where you could see the skyline of the city. It was nice that he knew the area and was able to find 3 different places we could go to throughout the night. I don’t really like making decisions when it comes to dates. I don’t usually have a preference and I’m pretty go with the flow. But if I have an opinion, I’m not afraid to voice it. It was pretty cold (by my southern girl whose always cold standards) the night that we went out, and I didn’t wear my big winter coat (I hate having to carry it around). My date was really nice and offered me his jacket several times when we walked to each place. But I sucked it up and dealt with my coldness!
We’ve been out a couple of times since the first date. We’ll see where things go……
